Quickly collect the formative data you need to seamlessly measure student reading comprehension and plan future instruction as you teach our curriculum, CommonLit 360
Is your team planning to implement CommonLit 360 at your school or district?
If so, our Unit Skills Assessments are the perfect complement as they are specifically designed to give teachers immediate formative insights into how well their students understand and apply grade-level standards when engaging with grade-appropriate texts.
What are 360 Unit Skills Assessments?
Each unit in CommonLit 360 comes with two Unit Skills Assessments that offer formative insights into students' reading comprehension skills. These assessments can be easily administered through CommonLit’s digital platform and feature curriculum-aligned cold read practice opportunities that provide snapshots of students’ reading comprehension levels and their ability to apply unit skills.
Easy to administer at prescribed points in a unit, each assessment includes a grade-level passage that aligns to the topics and themes discussed in that particular unit. Unit Skills Assessments include roughly 10 multiple choice questions and an optional writing question. These questions focus primarily on the skills that are explicitly taught in that unit and provide a temperature check of students’ comprehension levels.
Unit Skills Assessments can be easily assigned on our digital platform and feature multiple choice questions that are automatically graded. The optional open response questions come with exemplars and quick rubrics that help teachers grade student responses.
After students complete these digital assessments, teachers and instructional leaders receive easy-to-read data reports. These reports provide overall information about class trends, student comprehension, and how students performed by standard. With this data in hand, teachers can more easily address learning gaps to ensure that all students are able to continue making academic progress.
